Throughout your career, you will need to exercise the correct Safeguarding behaviour whether you work in the private or the public sector. You will learn about the purpose of Care Act 2014, DBS and types of abuse that may occur to those who you support and what may put them ‘at risk’ of harm and abuse. The course also covers what the law states regarding safeguarding and how to report suspected abuse or neglect. For adults at risk in healthcare, a culture of safeguarding needs to be developed by all carers for them to thrive. Relationships based on trust can only develop when people feel safe and respected. During the session, you'll cover: Define the terms ‘safeguarding’ and ‘those at risk’ Discuss safeguarding in the news Understand the criminal offence of ‘Ill treatment or wilful neglect’ Outline the role of disclosure and barring services Define the Care Act 2014 and the 6 principles of Safeguarding List the different types of abuse through definition, types and indicators Discuss the key legislation and responsibilities when safeguarding children Understand the term ‘whistleblowing’ following policy and who can help Understand your ‘duty of candour This full or half-day course comprises an engaging mix of activities with fellow learners (maximum fifteen delegates).
