A priority of care is ensuring the safeguarding of an individual. You need to understand your responsibilities of safeguarding Adults in your care. The UK law has specific requirements that health and social care workers must meet regarding Safeguarding Adults. Relationships are based on trust that can only be built when you display knowledge to gain respect and make the people your care feel safe.

During this course, you will learn;

  • To define the terms ‘safeguarding’ and ‘those at risk’
  • Discuss safeguarding in the news
  • Understand the criminal offence of ‘Ill-treatment or wilful neglect.’
  • Outline the role of disclosure and barring services
  • Define the care act 2014 and the 6 principles of Safeguarding
  • List the different types of abuse through definitions, types and indicators
  • Discuss the critical legislation and responsibilities when safeguarding children
  • Understand the term ‘whistleblowing’ following policy and who can help
  • Understand your duty of candour

This course is available as a half or full-day course. It comprises a mixture of engaging activities. Once the course is completed, you will be asked to complete a simple multiple-choice assessment. You will be given a certificate to acknowledge the passing of the course.
