Course Description
A learning disability affects how a person understands information and communicates. Around 1.5 million people in the UK have one. This means they can have difficulty understanding new or complex information, learning new skills or coping independently.
During the session, you'll cover the following:
- Define what is meant by the term learning disability
- Describe some of the barriers faced by people with a learning disability
- Discuss some possible causes of learning disability
- Describe some of the other issues people with a learning disability may face
- Discuss the guidance and legislation supporting people with a learning disability
- Describe how to manage support for individuals you support.
This course is available as a half or full-day course. It comprises a mixture of engaging activities. Once the course is completed, you will be asked to complete a simple multiple-choice assessment. You will be given a certificate to acknowledge the passing of the course.
