It is an essential asset for healthcare support workers, and adult social care workers are trained to prioritise the best interest of individuals in their care. It is an essential application to encourage an individual’s independence; it allows them to develop and become confident in making their own decisions and communicating. This course gives you the skill to draw a plan to support the individual.

In this course, you will cover the entire process from assessment to drawing up a comprehensive, effective care plan for an adult at risk in your care. You will learn to apply recognised standards, guidance, and recommendations to fulfil your role with good practice.

During the session, you’ll cover the following:

  • What is meant by ‘Person-Centred’ core values, and how they help in the assessment and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards
  • How to approach the process of writing a care plan, what it is and what it should include
  • The best approach to writing a quality care plan – the ‘SMARTER’ care method
  • The different types and styles of care plans you may need to write
  • How to write a user-friendly care plan
  • The importance of record-keeping and the correct way to do it
  • How to manage a crisis situation
  • What to look for and include in a risk assessment.

This half-day course comprises an engaging mix of activities. After taking the course, you’ll be asked to complete a simple multiple-choice assessment. You will be given a certificate to acknowledge the passing of the course.
