Overview
Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) support is a process where food, fluids and medications are delivered directly into the stomach, bypassing the mouth.
This course is designed to support staff who are involved in PEG care to understand how PEG support works, why it is necessary and what the commonly associated risks are.
This course takes 30-45 minutes to complete and comprises a mixture of engaging activities with theoretical knowledge, enhancing learners’ understanding of PEG assistance and how to offer individualised support to a person requiring PEG assistance.
Upon completion of the course, there will be a multiple-choice assessment and once achieved, a certificate of acknowledgement will be presented.

- Understand the principles of nutritional administration (gravity, bolus, pump)
- Recognise potential complications and appropriate actions to take
