A recent CQC report called Smiling Matters, hilighted the fact that too many people living in care homes are not being supported to maintain and improve their Oral Health. The report found that three years on from the publication of the NICE guideline, oral health in care homes is still not a priority.
Run as a three hour front line, level 2 course for a maximum of 15 delegates, this course will better enable delegates to understand and assist individuals with basic oral hygiene and to recognise any issues individuals will have such as dental disease. It will also provide strategies for staff when supporting an individual with dementia or behavioural issues around oral hygiene and will also offer an understanding of the NICE guidelines and CQC recommendations.
With the possibilty of running two courses in a day, with a maximum of 30 delegates, this course provides a cost effective solution to the current CQC recommendations.
