C0SHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
If you are a health and social care worker in either the public or private sector, this course is for you. This is where you will be trained to know which substances may be hazardous to health and pose a risk to yourself and others in the workplace. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to train others to take the necessary precautions to safeguard a team.
This course equips you with the knowledge of what lies dormant within the workplace and how to inform others of its dangers. Prevention is better than cure, and the better informed the staff complement is of what resides alongside them, the better their chances of evading an injury.
How do you identify a hazardous substance? What do you do if there is a medical emergency because of an accident with a hazardous substance in the workplace? With the knowledge and skills offered on this course, you could prevent a serious accident.
During the session, you'll cover:
An explanation of the term ‘hazardous’ in respect to its use regarding hazardous substances
The nature of substances that are covered by legal regulations
The main routes and means by which hazardous substances can enter the human body
What is involved in undertaking a full Risk Assessment, based on a recognised five-step process
The duties of both the employer and the employee in relation to the presence of hazardous substances in the workplace
The impact on current workplace processes of upcoming changes to official ‘labelling’.
This full or half-day course comprises an engaging mix of activities with fellow learners (maximum fifteen delegates). You’ll be asked to complete a simple multiple-choice assessment after you take the course. You will receive a certificate once you have passed the assessment.Enquire
