Managing Behaviours that Challenge with Physical Interventions

Do you know when it is appropriate to use physical intervention? Which is the best technique to use? This course gives you the tools to be confident in your work.

Health and social care workers are often faced with difficult behaviour at work on the part of the individual.

It will equip you with the practical skills you need to exercise a deeper awareness of the interaction between you and the individual. You will learn the recognised, different approaches you can use to understand somebody else’s background and responses to their life experiences.

During the session, you’ll cover:

What ‘managing behaviours that challenge’ means and how it is caused
How to identify 'managing behaviours that challenge' triggers and the best way to manage them
The role communication plays in affecting someone’s behaviour
Why it is important to use a ‘person-centred’ approach
The continuum, how to identify the different types of 'managing behaviours that challenge'  and which interventions to use in order to manage it appropriately
The value of the ‘de-brief’
A new recognition of the wider impact of all behaviour, whether positive or negative
When and how to employ ‘disengagement’ and ‘holding’ techniques.

This one day course comprises an engaging mix of activities with fellow learners (maximum ten delegates), practical work and theory. You’ll be asked to complete a simple multiple choice and practical assessment of learning after you take the course. You will receive a certificate once you have passed both assessments.

Training - Friendly, focused and engaging. An extremely effective trainer who makes it look effortless. She caters for all of her learners and can register the level she teaches to all individuals. Her stories and examples are extremely relevant and conducive towards learning while managing digression effectively.

I want to return to Curve Learning and she is a credit to your organisation. I don’t say this lightly as I have a lot of experience of sub-par service from trainers/providers spanning many years.
