First Aid

Learners will need to complete our training skills for trainers day before they attend any of our Train the Trainer course days. Please note that this is only compulsory if you have never attended one of our Train the Trainer course days before. You do not need to complete our training skills day if you have already attended.

Anyone involved in health care or social work should know how to give First Aid. Whether you’re new to it or need a refresher course, this is the perfect choice. An informative, hands on toolkit of First Aid advice and practice that will equip you to deal with any unforeseen circumstances at work.

Do you know how much pressure to use in CPR? How quickly to compress a patient’s chest? What the most effective, up-to-date techniques for dislodging a swallowed foreign object are?

If you’ve chosen a career in health and social care, you are regularly in a position of responsibility for someone else. When you feel confident that you are capable of dealing with an emergency medical situation, you are able to work more effectively in your day-to-day caring role.

For newcomers to the job and for practiced carers alike, you'll cover:

Half-Day
Aims as a first aider
Discuss how to prioritise treatment - what to look for first
Practice how to deal with an unresponsive casualty
Demonstrate how to resuscitate a casualty by using CPR including an overview of the AED and how to use it
Explain how to recognise and deal with shock
How to manage or dress different types of wounds and stem bleeding
Demonstrate treatment for life threatening conditions such as choking, strokes and heart attacks.
