Emergency First Aid At Work - 3 Day
It takes a calm, responsible person to be the designated first aider at work. Workplaces hide several hazards and many injuries can be prevented when you know how to assess the environment. If the worst should happen, though, a fully-certified first aider on the team is essential to deal with medical emergencies caused by injury or illness.
Organisations that are made up of several members of staff need a designated on-site first aider. If yours doesn’t have one yet, then perhaps it’s time for you to take up the role and become fully certified.
This course is specifically designed to give you a comprehensive understanding and practical, working knowledge of First Aid. It is a more intensive course than the First Aid Awareness Course, including more in-depth application of treatment for a wider range of medical emergencies that may arise in the workplace.
When you’ve completed this course, you’ll be fully certified and trained in:
A more in-depth understanding and working knowledge of basic life support and CPR
Basic First Aid skills and how to ensure that the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are called and medical help arrives at the scene
How to assess an environment for possible dangers in order to limit the chances of the occurrence of an accident
Why medical treatment needs to be given immediately and how to administer it
Practical treatment and response to choking, potential spinal injury, serious bleeding, minor injuries, seizures, anaphylactic shock, burns and scalds
How to make an accurate, on the spot assessment of an illness or an injury and how to carry out the appropriate treatment quickly and calmly
How to identify different kinds of injuries and how to treat them
The kind of treatment needed for injuries to bones, the head, eyes and chest.
This course lasts three days (21 hours) and comprises an engaging mix of activities with fellow learners (maximum twelve delegates), practical work and theory. You’ll be asked to complete a simple multiple choice and practical assessment after you take the course. You will receive a certificate once you have passed both assessments.
